Black Masterbatch & Desiccant Masterbatch Dispatched to Japan for Recycled Plastic Pelletizing
Shipping Notice
In August 2025, NuoXin New Materials Co., Ltd. completed a new export batch of Black Masterbatch and Desiccant Masterbatch destined for customers in Japan’s Kanto region. The materials will be deployed on recycled plastic pelletizing lines—primarily recycled PE and PP—where color standardization and in-line moisture control are essential to output stability and pellet quality.
The cargo was containerized on August 14 and is scheduled to arrive at Tokyo Port on August 20. To safeguard performance during transit, we used moisture-barrier, 25 kg laminated woven bags and palletized loads with stretch-wrapping. Each pallet carries a unique tracking label linked to the lot’s QC reports (MFI, moisture, dispersion index, and CaO activity), enabling rapid traceability from production line to end-use.
Shipment contents: High-tint black masterbatch (carbon black–based) for recycled stream coloration and appearance unification, plus CaO desiccant masterbatch designed to capture residual moisture during extrusion—minimizing bubbles, silver streaks, and hydrolysis-related defects.
Japan’s Recycled Plastic Pelletizing Market: Snapshot & Drivers
Japan is renowned for stringent environmental standards and meticulous manufacturing practices. Over the past decade, municipal collection, private-sector sorting, and advanced washing/compounding have forged a robust recycled plastics value chain. Demand momentum has further accelerated as brands pursue circularity targets and compliance with resource-circulation policies.
Key Market Characteristics
High quality thresholds: Recycled pellets are expected to meet tight specifications on color uniformity, odor, mechanical properties, and processing stability. Any visible defect or batch-to-batch drift can trigger returns or regrading.
Efficiency-focused operations: With elevated labor and utility costs, processors emphasize uptime, short changeovers, and predictable throughput—pushing toward reliable masterbatch solutions that simplify line control.
Regulatory impetus: Recycled content is expanding across packaging, appliances, automotive components, and household goods—driving consistent demand for additives that normalize color and mitigate moisture variability.
Core Challenges in Recycled Streams
Heterogeneous feedstock: Variability in color and contamination levels elevates the risk of pellet inconsistency. Black masterbatch is widely used to unify appearance across mixed sources.
Moisture carryover: Washing processes introduce moisture; hygroscopic residues persist in flake/fluff. Without in-line drying or reactive scavenging, processors face bubbles, foaming, and strength loss.
Cost–performance balance: Processors seek economical, low-dosage solutions that improve yield and reduce scrap without adding operational complexity.
Our combined approach—Black Masterbatch for aesthetic and UV stability, plus CaO Desiccant Masterbatch for reactive moisture capture—directly targets these pain points, enhancing pellet commercial value while protecting processing uptime.
Applications of Black Masterbatch in Recycling
NuoXin’s black masterbatch disperses high-structure carbon black via twin-screw compounding to achieve excellent tint strength, clean dispersion, and stable rheology. In recycling, these attributes translate into practical benefits for both pelletizers and downstream converters:
Why Processors Choose Black Masterbatch
Appearance unification: Masks color variations, inclusions, and minor surface blemishes—upgrading recycled pellets to a consistent, marketable grade.
UV protection: Carbon black efficiently absorbs UV radiation, slowing surface chalking and embrittlement—ideal for outdoor products like pipes, films, and crates.
Mechanical reinforcement: At optimized loading, carbon black can improve tensile strength and impact resistance, expanding the application window of recycled resins.
Cleaner operations: Pelletized masterbatch avoids dusting and housekeeping issues associated with powder blacks, reduces screw slippage, and shortens line cleanup.
Typical applications in Japan include garbage bags and industrial liners (blown film), cable sheathing and corrugated conduit (extrusion), injection-molded bins, pallets, and automotive under-hood or interior parts where a matte, uniform black is preferred for aesthetics and durability.
Applications of Desiccant (CaO) Masterbatch
Our desiccant masterbatch is engineered around active calcium oxide (CaO) bound in a PE/PP carrier.During extrusion, CaO reacts with water to form Ca(OH)2, providing rapid, in-situ moisture scavenging. This chemistry mitigates defects at the source—inside the melt.
Operational Advantages
Defect suppression: Reduces bubbles, voids, and silver streaks that originate from residual moisture—resulting in smoother pellets and fewer rejects.
Yield and uptime gains: Stabilizes pressure and melt flow, minimizing surging and screen-plugging events that cause downtime.
Energy savings: Can supplement or partially replace pre-drying, lowering energy consumption and simplifying plant logistics—especially valuable for mixed post-consumer streams.
Easy integration: Add directly with flake or regrind; no new hardware or process redesign is required. Dosage is typically fine-tuned in a 1–3% window.
Desiccant masterbatch is commonly applied in recycled PE/PP pelletizing, black film production, injection-molded housewares, and sheet extrusion where moisture variability otherwise compromises throughput and finish.

Processing Tips
Black Masterbatch: For blown film, target steady melt temperature and low moisture. Use a screen pack strategy that preserves dispersion while maintaining throughput.
Desiccant Masterbatch: Start at 1% dosage; increase toward 3% for wetter streams or after cold, humid storage of washed flakes. Avoid prolonged open-air exposure of the bag once unsealed.
Co-addition: When using both, preblend masterbatches with regrind/flake for even distribution; verify pellet color and bubble-free strand before full-rate ramp-up.
